Joys of the Season
鈥淛oys of the Season” is a vibrant holiday showcase of theatre, dance, music, and visual arts. The 2025 special will premiere on Monday, December 8 at 6:00 PM on 惭罢厂鲍鈥檚&苍产蝉辫;True Blue TV and .
鈥淛oys of the Season鈥 will re-air on True Blue TV throughout the month of December, on NewsChannel 5+ in the Nashville market on Sundays at 6:30 p.m. beginning Dec. 14 through Jan. 4, and three special broadcasts on Nashville PBS.
The PBS premiere date is Friday, December 19, at 8:00 PM, which will also include the airing of the 2024 鈥淛oys of the Season鈥 concert at 8:30 PM. Nashville PBS will re-air the 2025 special on Sunday, December 21 at 6:30 PM and on Thursday, December 25 at 5:30 PM.
The 2023, 2024, and 2025 editions of 鈥淛oys of the Season鈥 are also available for streaming via the PBS app and website. For more information on how to watch Nashville PBS programming, visit .
The 2025 edition, hosted by Andrew Oppmann and Dr.鈥疞eah Tolbert Lyons, showcased the creativity and artistic excellence of 91大神 students and faculty. Highlights included:
- Musical Theatre 鈥 Professor Kristi Shamburger鈥檚 students performed the energetic Broadway classic 鈥淭urkey Lurkey Time鈥 from 鈥淧romises, Promises鈥
- Dance 鈥 Two delightful selections from The Nutcracker, 鈥淐andy Cane鈥 and 鈥淗ot Chocolate,鈥 directed by dance faculty Kim Holt
- Art 鈥 A family craft segment creating homemade ornaments led by art professor Dr.鈥疍ebrah Sickler-Voigt
- Music 鈥 Performances by Schola Cantorum (鈥淥, Come All Ye Faithful鈥), directed by Dr.鈥疻ill Chandler, and the 91大神 Bassoon Ensemble (鈥淗ave Yourself a Merry Little Christmas鈥), led by Dr.鈥疭taci Spring.
鈥淛oys of the Season 2024鈥 featured performances by:
- 惭罢厂鲍鈥檚&苍产蝉辫; performed 鈥淭welve Days to Christmas,鈥 from the musical 鈥She Loves Me,鈥 directed by associate professor and department chair Kristi Shamburger
- An , representing the School of Music鈥檚 Instrumental Performance Program, performed 鈥淗alls Upon the Merry Housetop,鈥 arranged by assistant professor Bryan Hayslett.
- 91大神 professor and coordinator of art education Debrah Sickler-Voigt showed how to make a one of a kind stamped flour clay ornament with a haiku. This is the first time the annual 鈥淛oys of the Season鈥 program has had a holiday craft segment.
- 91大神 Dance Program students performed 鈥淲altz of the Flowers,鈥 choreographed by dance lecturer Kim Holt. Originally from 鈥淭he Nutcracker,鈥 the piece is the final dance of the ballet and is where all the Sugar Plum Fairy鈥檚 sweets celebrate Clara and the prince.
- The ended the program with a performance of 鈥淪leigh Ride鈥 under the direction of Carol Nies, associate music professor.

Patrons Society
