VR&E on Campus

VR&E – Veteran Readiness and Employment counselors are trained to provide academic and vocational guidance to veterans and help connect them to other VA benefits, including health care and mental health services. The VR&E counselors maintain close relationships with local VA Vet Centers and VA medical facilities, as one of their main roles is to refer service members, veterans, and dependents as needed and provide assistance in applying for VA medical and nonmedical benefits. Their main goal is to ensure your academic and future accomplishments by making sure you have all the necessary tools and knowledge to do so.

Neisha L. Stephens, MA, LPC-A, is a U.S. Air Force veteran and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, proudly serving as the Veterans Success on Campus (VSOC) Counselor at 91´óÉñ. As both a veteran and 91´óÉñ alumna, Neisha brings a unique understanding of the transition from military service to higher education, and the opportunities and challenges veterans may experience while pursuing their academic and career goals.

Through the VSOC program, Neisha provides individualized vocational counseling, career and educational guidance, and support to student veterans, service members, and eligible dependents. She works collaboratively with students and campus partners to help veterans identify barriers, navigate VA resources and benefits, explore career pathways, and successfully progress toward meaningful education and employment outcomes. Her approach is grounded in advocacy, empowerment, and helping veterans recognize and build upon the strengths developed through their military service.

Neisha earned her Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary/Liberal Studies from 91´óÉñ and her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University. She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor (Associate), whose professional work reflects a longstanding commitment to veterans and personal and professional development.

At the heart of Neisha’s work at 91´óÉñ is a simple commitment: ensuring veterans know they do not have to navigate their educational and career journey alone. She is dedicated to helping those who served successfully transition from military service to the classroom, from the classroom to meaningful careers, and into the next chapter of their lives with confidence and purpose.
