Respondus Pilot

ITD and 91´óÉñ Online are launching a structured pilot of Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor proctoring software. We are exploring this platform as a potential complement to or replacement of 91´óÉñ Online’s current proctoring solution (ProctorU).


Respondus Pilot Fall 2026

91´óÉñ Online and the Information Technology Division (ITD) are seeking faculty volunteers to participate in a pilot of  for fall 2026.

As we continue to evaluate tools that support academic integrity while providing a positive student experience, this pilot will help us assess whether Respondus could serve as a complement to or potential replacement for our current proctoring solution.

We are particularly interested in hearing from faculty who currently use online proctoring tools or who teach courses where remote testing is an important component of instruction. Participants may choose to evaluate LockDown Browser, Monitor, or both. Pilot testing will run from August 24 – October 9, encompassing the start of the Fall 2026 semester and A1 accelerated term, not including A2 part of term. Access to the tool will continue until October 31 when a decision will be made.

Faculty interested in participating are asked to complete the  to identify the course(s) they plan to use during the pilot. Up to ten courses may be submitted on a single form. The deadline to enroll in the Respondus pilot is Wednesday, August 19. Participants will be asked to complete a short feedback survey at the conclusion of the pilot to help inform future decisions regarding online proctoring services at 91´óÉñ. Your feedback and experience are essential to evaluate technologies that support academic integrity and student success.

About Respondus

Respondus LockDown Browser is a customized browser that helps secure online assessments by preventing students from opening additional tabs, accessing other websites, printing, copying content, or using unauthorized applications during an exam. Respondus Monitor adds webcam and microphone recording capabilities, allowing instructors to review testing sessions and identify potential testing irregularities.

Practice Quiz

We have crafted a generic quiz that can be used to provide students with a practice exam to help them become familiar with the use of LockDown Browser and Monitor.

Use the attached file to upload the quiz into your Canvas course shell:

  1. Navigate to the Canvas course in which you plan to use Respondus.
  2. Go to the Quizzes area
  3. Create a New Quiz, giving it a title and configuring the points and availability dates, etc.
  4. Click the Build button to add questions to the quiz.
  5. Use the 3-dot (kabob) menu in the upper right on the build screen and select Import Content
  6. Locate the .zip file downloaded from step 1.
  7. Upon completion, review the questions and test information to ensure satisfaction with the options.
  8. Click Return to complete the creation of the quiz.
