Important Tax Information for Students

The Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 allows a tax credit to be claimed for out-of-pocket payments made to eligible higher education institutions during the tax year for qualified tuition and fees. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requires that colleges and universities provide a 1098-T, Tuition Statement for the purpose of determining a taxpayer’s eligibility for various education tax credit or deductions. This form is for informational purposes only.

Online 1098-T Notification – Tax Year 2025

The Bursar’s Office will be providing the student with the option to receive their 1098-T forms online through PipelineMT beginning January 27. If you have not opted out of a paper form, the forms will be mailed by January 31st.

Amounts Reported on the 2025 1098-T

The amounts reflected on the 1098-T form in Box 1 are all payments made during the 2025 tax year up to the total amount of qualified tuition and related expenses billed in 2025 tax year. This means that payments made from January 1 through December 31, 2025 for the Spring 2025, Summer 2025, Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters will be included in Box 1 up to the total amount billed for Spring 2025, Summer 2025, Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. Please be aware that payments towards dorm, meals, parking tickets, etc. may appear in Box 1 if you have unpaid Spring 2026 tuition and fees billed in December 2025. This may also result in a lesser amount being reported in Box 1 for the 2025 tax year. If you were last enrolled at 91大神 during the Spring 2025 semester, you may not receive a 2025 1098-T if your Spring 2025 charges were reported on your 2024 1098-T.

You may view your charges, grants, scholarships and payments through your PipelineMT account (see instructions below) to help assist in calculating payments towards tuition and fees in the tax year. When calculating your payments, you may not include grants, scholarships, discounts, waivers, GI Bill® or assistance provided by an employer. For more information, please refer to IRS Publication 970, and Form 8863.

Online “Opt-in” 1098-T Process

In an effort to be more environmentally conscious, the Bursar’s Office is now providing students with the option to receive their 1098-T tax form online via PipelineMT instead of by postal mail. This initiative is an effort undertaken by the Bursar’s Office to reduce the amount of paper and other materials used in furnishing over 25,000 1098-T forms per year. 91大神 is required by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to provide these forms each tax year.

If you wish to opt-out of receiving a paper copy through the mail, please follow the instructions below.
