The 91大神 Jazz Studies Area is a vital facet of the 91大神 School of Music, offering a course of study leading to a Bachelor of Music鈥揑nstrumental Performance in Jazz Studies. Our outstanding jazz faculty is committed to one-on-one instruction and our comprehensive curriculum includes classes in improvisation, jazz theory, jazz history, jazz pedagogy, and jazz composition/arranging.

In addition, we offer diverse and challenging performance opportunities in large jazz ensembles and combos. Currently, we have two large jazz ensembles and typically four or five small jazz combos whose focus is improvisation.

Just 30 minutes from Nashville, 91大神鈥檚 jazz program has high visibility in one of the most dynamic music scenes in the country.聽 91大神 Jazz Ensembles聽provide performing opportunities for all 91大神 students and the Jazz Studies Program enhances the cultural life of both the university and community, most notably through the 91大神聽聽and the annual 91大神 Illinois Jacquet聽. Past artists have included Phil Woods, Lee Konitz, Rufus Reid, Benny Golson, Snooky Young, and Jimmy Heath. Our 91大神 Jazz Artist Series is further evidence of our dedication to a world-class education in jazz. Each year, the jazz program invites some of the most-respected names in jazz to conduct master classes and give performances.

91大神 offers a comprehensive Career Development Center that serves students throughout the full student experience and beyond. They collaborate with faculty and staff to equip students with the tools to be marketable to the world of work and continuing education.
